The exact origin of dream catchers is a little vague however many claim they came from the Ojibwe tribe of Native America. They are crafted to catch bad dreams protecting people, especially children from nightmares. It's said the bad dreams get stuck within the strands of sinew while the good dreams pass through and follow the feathers down to the sleeping person.
Although not scientifically proven a lot of people have found them to help. Whether it works as a stress reviler / comfort device much in the same way a placebo works or they actually connect in spiritual world - no one really knows. They do definitely do help a lot of people around the world though. Some people say the bad spirits get caught within the webs and there are a lot of stories out there which are worth reading; their origin and history are fascinating!
Here at The Hippie House, we personally love dream catchers. Not only do they look great but we always find better vibes and energy in homes and rooms where dream catchers are hung. We carry a wide variety of types, styles, colours and sizes and hope you find one you fall in love with.
They're also great for adding a splash of colour and texture to boring / plain bedrooms. They can easily be made a focal point and don't just have to be used within the bed room either. There are many people who hang them from their rear view mirror in their cars to protect them during their travels. You can hang them in offices, above your garden day bed, next to your hammock - basically anywhere!
