Nag Champa is a sacred incense traditionally burned in India, Vietnam and China for spiritual and meditation ceremonies. In the 1960’s, the incense found popularity in Western Culture and is now one of the most recognisable and popular blends in the world.
A combination of the sacred champaca flower, halmaddi, frangipani and sandalwood, Nag Champa is widely used to sanctify or purify an area, as well as in meditation and yoga. The incense is also perfect for unwinding at home after a long day, with the aroma said to induce positive energy and an elevated mood.
The word incense derives from incandere, which means ‘to burn’ in Latin. While the earliest known use of incense originates in Ancient China, India has become the largest producer of these exotic fragrances over the years. This is largely due to the popularity of Nag Champa incense, thanks to its peaceful and intoxicating aroma. Each stick is hand-rolled using traditional methods and will burn for about 45 minutes.
