Quality propagation equipment is required for any successful hydroponic set up whether it be for a hobbyist or commercial grower. Seed raising and especially cloning your strongest plants is vital to keep your best and most unique strains in season year after year.
At The Hippie House we're proud to stock a wide range of quality propagation equipment including heat mats, cloning gels, clone shippers, scalpels, cloning lights including fluorescent and LED's - and off course mediums including Grodan rockwool cubes and coco jiffy pellets. We only stock quality cloning and seed raising equipment from the leaders in the hydroponic industry to ensure you get the highest success rate possible. Some of our clients are experiencing 99% success rates when using our cloning equipment.
To clone a plant you'll need a sharp sanitised scalpel or blade and then cut one of the lower branches of your desired plants. Ensure the plant is at least two months old as clones work much better when the plant is mature. Cut at a 90 degree angle and try make it as close to the main stem as possible. From there place it in a glass of water and continue until you've got your desired amount of clones.
Afterwards you can then peel the skin or create small slices to the bottom of the clone's stem where the roots will form. From there dip it into rooting hormones and then into the growing medium whether it be rockwool, coco pellets or soil.
Giving your clones and seedlings the right type of light is essential for fast root growth and vegetative growth. For best results pick a fluorescent light or LED grow light. Both of these provide nice blue spectrum's which clones and seedlings thrive on. Once you've picked a suitable light whether fluorescent or a LED ensure you give your seedlings and clones 18 hours of light a day.
Humidity speeds up root growth so by using a humidity dome you'll get a higher success rate and you'll be able to transplant the clones and seedlings quicker. Once you've cut your clones or planted the seeds pop them into the tray insert within the humidity dome. Get a spray bottle, fill it with water and turn the nozzle to ensure it releases a mist. Then spray the leaves of the clones and the lid of the tray (don't worry about this with seeds) and place the lid back onto the humidity dome. Open one of the vents in the dome's lid if required. From there you'll want to use a heat mat underneath the dome which creates warmth. The mist combined with the warmth creates a humid environment which clones and seedlings love.
You can also find Nulife's Clone Accelerator below which works wonders in speeding up clone growth.
Over all cloning and seed raising is a very simple process. By using the right equipment you can get very fast root growth on seedlings and clones. Along with creating the right environment for your clones and seedlings ensuring you have a clean and sanitised environment is equally important.
