COB stands for chips on board and is increasingly becoming more and more popular within grow lights. There are a number of reasons for this - the main ones being COB chips are efficient, have long life spans and provide exceptional light quality. COB stands for chip-on-board. This refers to the way LED diodes are designed and packaged on the light fixture. By utilising many tiny LED’s mounted in close proximity, the lights combine to form a single, powerful light source. This design has many great benefits, making COB grow lights an excellent choice when it comes to indoor gardening.
With many small lights in operation, COB grow lights have higher light density than most other lighting options. This allows for a more compact product that saves on space while still producing a powerful amount of light. Deeper canopy penetration is also achieved as a result of their compact power, with the tiny diodes functioning as one large LED chip.
The most common colours for COB grow lights are warm and cool white, with many designs combining both to mimic natural sunlight. This stimulates healthy and natural growth by imitating an outdoor growing environment. White light is also much easier on the human eye, helping you to more accurately monitor your plant’s development.
