🧪Oil Infusion Guide

🧪 Herbal Oil Infusion Guide – Clean, Safe & Simple

Once your herbs have been activated (if needed), the next step is turning them into a rich, oil-based infusion. Whether you're crafting oils for wellness, food prep, or topical balms, this guide shows you how to do it safely and consistently using one of our Decarb & Infuser Units.

🎯 No stovetops. No guesswork. Just precise, plant-powered infusions every time.

📋 Step-by-Step Herbal Infusion Process

🔥 Step 1: Optional Decarb First

Some herbs benefit from a process called decarboxylation, which gently activates plant compounds for more effective use.

➡️ See our full Decarb Manual if you're using herbs that require it.

🧴 Step 2: Add Your Carrier Oil

Choose your preferred oil (see comparison below) and add it to the unit along with your decarbed herb.

⚙️ Step 3: Select Infusion Mode

Choose the mode based on your desired result:

  • ⏱️ Quick Mode: 1–2 hours

  • 🕰️ Gentle Mode: 3–4 hours

  • 🌡️ Typical infusion range: 70–85 °C (158–185 °F)

🧼 Step 4: Strain & Store

Once finished, pour your infused oil through a mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Store in a cool, dark place or refrigerate for longer shelf life.

Oil Type Ideal Temp Range °C / °F Quick Mode* Gentle Mode* Notes & Best Uses
Olive Oil 70–75 °C / 158–167 °F 1–2 hrs 3–4 hrs Rich flavour, excellent for low-heat cooking, dressings, and savoury infusions. Avoid exceeding 80 °C to prevent oxidation and flavour loss.
Coconut Oil 70–78 °C / 158–172 °F 1–2 hrs 3–4 hrs Long shelf life, solid at room temp. Great for edibles, skincare, and balms. Stable under heat but keep below 80 °C for best flavour.
MCT Oil 70–75 °C / 158–167 °F 1–2 hrs 3–4 hrs Flavourless, highly stable, and fast-absorbing. Perfect for capsules, smoothies, and sublingual drops.
Jojoba Oil ⚠️ ~65–70 °C / ~149–158 °F 2 hrs 4 hrs max For topical use only — liquid wax ideal for balms and skin salves. Avoid heating above 70 °C or for extended periods to preserve integrity.
Avocado Oil 70–75 °C / 158–167 °F 1–2 hrs 3–4 hrs Mild flavour, nutrient-rich, and high absorption. Works well for culinary and cosmetic infusions. Keep below 80 °C to preserve antioxidants.

*Times are general recommendations — fibrous or resinous herbs may benefit from up to 6–8 hours at gentle settings for maximum extraction.
